Women's treatment & Recovery services in georgia
The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) contracts with providers in all six regions to offer treatment services for women with substance use disorders. The Women’s Treatment and Recovery Services (WTRS) program supports recovery through structured treatment options for pregnant and parenting women. Providers implement evidence-based practices to support long-term recovery and stability, helping individuals work toward their personal goals with a range of treatment options.
WTRS assists women in addressing challenges related to employment, education, housing, and family responsibilities while also identifying personal strengths and available community resources. The program serves women with substance use disorders who are pregnant and/or parenting children under the age of 13. With care levels ranging from outpatient services to residential and transitional housing, WTRS providers support individuals at high risk for relapse, those who are pregnant, and those involved with Child Protective Services, the criminal justice system, or mental health services, provided they are medically stable enough to participate in treatment.
Services for women include but are not limited to: ongoing assessment and screening, psychiatric and nursing care, and individual and group therapy addressing relationships, trauma, parenting, anger management, and symptom management. Therapeutic child care services are available, and children in the custody of women receiving treatment may receive support for developmental needs. Case management and transportation services help ensure access to care. Vocational support includes job training, educational resources, and employment assistance. The average length of stay is three to six months. Click here for more information.
